Visit to the Náchod Bypass Construction Site

At the invitation of Jan Birke, Starost of Náchod, Małgorzata Jędrzejewska-Skrzypczyk, Starost of Kłodzko, participated today in a visit to the Náchod bypass construction site – one of the most important and expensive road investments in the Czech Republic.

Also present at the event were: Monika Wielichowska, Deputy Speaker of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland; Paweł Gancarz, Marshal of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship; Czesław Kręcichwost, Chairman of the Polish part of the Glacensis Euroregion; Aneta Potoczna, Mayor of Kudowa-Zdrój; Michał Piszko, Mayor of Kłodzko; Mateusz Jellin, Mayor of Polanica-Zdrój; and representatives of the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA), Czech local governments, and technical services.

The Náchod bypass is a €130 million investment, encompassing 17 bridges, two tunnels, and 6.5 km of new road. It is currently the most expensive bypass in the Czech Republic. Around 300 people are working on the construction site, often working around the clock, and the project is scheduled for completion in March 2028.
Around 24,000 vehicles, including 6,000 trucks, pass through Náchod daily. The new road will significantly reduce traffic congestion in the city center, improve safety, and improve traffic flow – including on the Polish side, especially in the Kudowa-Zdrój region.
Kłodzko County, as a border region, has been working for years to improve road connections with the Czech Republic, and investments like this are crucial for the economic and tourism development of the entire region.
