We promote cross-border cooperation – joint trip to Warsaw
A Polish-Czech study trip of members of the Glacensis Euroregion to Warsaw was carried out on 9–11 April 2025, aimed at promoting and strengthening cross-border cooperation. The event was attended by partners from both sides of the border – both with extensive project experience and representatives interested in starting joint initiatives within the Euroregion.
Meeting at the Sejm of the Republic of Poland
On the first day, the participants visited the Sejm of the Republic of Poland, where they met with:
- Ms. Monika Wielichowska – Deputy Marshal of the Sejm,
- Ms. Iwona Krawczyk – Chairwoman of the Parliamentary Team for Polish-Czech Cross-border Cooperation,
- Mr. Marek Chmielewski – Deputy Chairman of the Team,
- Mr. Tomasz Kostuś - Deputy Chairman of the Team,
- Mr. Paweł Masełko - member of the Team.
The Team was established to support cooperation between Poland and the Czech Republic, it brings together parliamentarians involved in the development of cross-border relations, exchange of experiences and joint initiatives on the border.
The meeting with the Team was an opportunity to present the 29-year cross-border cooperation implemented in the Glacensis Euroregion. The importance of cross-border cooperation for the social, economic and tourist development of our region was discussed. It was emphasized that joint activities allowed to break many stereotypes and build lasting neighborly relations. Among other things, issues related to infrastructure, education, health care and safety in border areas were discussed. The Polish-Czech agreement on cooperation of rescue services on the border was discussed. This agreement is an important document that will improve the safety of border residents and tourists.
During the visit to the Sejm of the Republic of Poland, the participants had the opportunity to meet with Ms. Monika Wielichowska - Deputy Speaker of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland, who has been actively supporting the development of Polish-Czech cooperation for years, especially in border regions.
For years, the Marshal has been involved in activities aimed at building good-neighbourly relations, supporting local governments and institutions operating on the border and strengthening the dialogue between Poland and the Czech Republic. Her involvement is an important impulse for further initiatives and projects within the Glacensis Euroregion.
Thanks to the support of people such as Marshal Wielichowska, it is possible to effectively promote sustainable development, social integration and institutional cooperation on both sides of the border.
We would like to thank MP Iwona Krawczyk, who is actively involved in activities aimed at deepening Polish-Czech relations, for the invitation, organisation of the meeting and warm welcome.
A walk around Warsaw
On the second day, a guided tour of Warsaw took place. The guests saw, among others:
The Nicolaus Copernicus Monument, the Church of the Holy Cross, Piłsudski Square, the Presidential Palace, the Mermaid and the Little Insurgent Monument and the Royal Łazienki Park. It was an excellent opportunity for integration and learning about the history and culture of Poland.
Visit to the Czech Embassy
On the third day, the delegation visited the Czech Embassy in Warsaw, where they met with Mr. Břetislav Dančák, the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Poland. The talks focused on the achievements and plans for the future in terms of cooperation between the border regions. The Ambassador spoke about the development of road and rail connections, which is aimed at improving communication between the two countries. The talks could include issues related to nuclear energy and joint security initiatives.
The meeting with the Ambassador was an excellent opportunity to deepen the dialogue and strengthen cooperation between Poland and the Czech Republic, especially in the context of common challenges and opportunities for the development of border regions.
At the end, the participants admired the panorama of the capital from the observation deck of the Palace of Culture and Science.
During the entire trip, professional translation was provided by Mr. Jaroslav Radimerský - thank you very much for your support!
